I think your definition makes molecular biology difficult to distinguish

from biochemistry.  

While biochemistry focuses on chemical interactions, molecular biology focuses more on processes. For instance, signalling in the cell and processes like the Kreb cycle. Molecular genetics is a specific section of molecular biology, concerning DNA, gene silencing, RNA and protein synthesis.
