We are trying to go for photocatalysis and it is seen that microwaved tio2 (mixture of tio2 in water) is better at it. Can you explain why? Is it just because that there is increase of crystallinity?
The morphology of them may be entierly different so the photocatalytic activity of them will be different.as the crystallinity increase the photocatalytic activity increases too.
i am agree with Habib answer , just i want ad some explanation about the crystallinity which why increasing the crystallinity was affected on the photocatalytic activity. especially of TiO2 has two phase as anatase and rutile. so the best one for photocatalytic reaction is anatase . for that when the crystallinity increasing showed the TiO2 (anatase) converted from amorphous phase to crystal (growth crysta) which that crystal more stable. At same time should be determine the optimum condition to get the highest photocatalytic activity for example effect of microwave power on crystallinity which can affected on photocatalytic activity.
Microwave will help improving to control the kinetics and thus control the crystallite and grain sizes. This will bring advantages in the final properties of the material.
