To build the Industry 4.0 ecosystem, there are many sub system involved. Big data and data mining, cyber physical system, internet of things, network security, etc. The complexity will depend on the industry fields, automation level and the human interaction.

Industry 4.0 refers in particular to a German national project from DIN, DKE, VDE, which has produced DIN standards, such as the RAMI4. 0 architecture (many of these public specifications are easy to find, from the above information).

Human factors are being studied for IIoT in the global Standardisation group "JTC1-SC41 IoT" (search their site). Another key concept is "human robot collaboration" (lots of documents can be found).
