Hope, expectation and desiar are not same. psychologicaly they are differerent aspects of mind. can one form a logical system on these three? I am trying to do so, if any one interested please join me.
I think defining these notions clearly is the problem here. Maybe, you should tag this question as "cognitive semantics" or something.
For me, expectation is an epistemological state in which a subject's current knowledge (either propositional or implicit) predicts a world state to occur.
In the cases of hope and desire, we can talk about a certain attitude of the subject towards a certain state of the world. And, again for me, hope is about more plausible things like "I hope it rains etc.", but desire is about like everything. I am thinking Turkish, so a native speaker can be more helpful on this.
By the way, are there any epistemological definitions of this kind of things I wonder. Because, it seems to me that all of these are about our relationship with knowledge.
