Green buildings (also known as green construction or sustainable construction) refers to the structure, use of a process that is environmentally responsible and efficient in using resources throughout the lifecycle
Though the words “green” and “sustainable” are often used interchangeably, there are several differences between them, meaning that a “green” building is not always “sustainable." A building is green when it helps reduce the footprint it leaves on the natural environment and on the health of its inhabitants.
Sustainability is long term approach while green building is just a one step on which we walk to achieve it.
Going “green’ means all-out efforts to reduce greenhouse gases, especially by reducing carbon foot print. This process alone may not be sustainable, for that it should integrate three main goals—environmental health, economic profitability, and social and economic equity. In other words, “greening” is a major part of sustainability, but for doing so, it should take into consideration economic profitability and social and economic equity.
Dear Sir Hussam Ali Mohammed ,The green word is often used only for environmental perceptive, but the sustainability is something which includes three aspects in the same time Viz.- Environment, Economy and Society. So in other words we can say, sustainable is green but green is not sustainable.

I think green is used in a more comprehensive sense compared to sustainable words and sustainability
Green means ecological (environment friendly), sustainability means perennity (building/construction long lasting)
Green, means environment friendly conditions, use of green solvents, avoid the use of toxic solvents and harsh conditions.
Green solvents include, water, anionic liquids
Sustainable refers to the long time use and should be able to reuse again. Recycling should be easy and environment friendly, saving time and energy and resources.

Sustainable
The word “sustainable” doesn’t have the same definition issues. While the term “green” reflects the environmental movement in general, “sustainable” has clear-cut criteria built right into its definition. Sustainability takes the notion of green to the next level and challenges us to look deeper.
Green buildings are based on environment-friendly construction techniques in materials used, energy consumption and sustainability. It depends on the raw materials in construction and is keen to use what is in the environment of the place, including what depends on modern technologies for energy conservation, generation and recycling using advanced solutions based on Solar energy, reclaimed water, and renewable energy sources.
The activities of people are the cause of environmental problems. In other words, if people didn't exist there wouldn't be an environmental crisis. In some cases, green approaches recommend limits to population, economic growth and consumption.
