Well known answer is that, two probe method is appropiate only for highly resistive material and four probe measurement method is only for low resistive material, but for determination of band gap of a N-type Ge semiconductor both two probe and four probe method can be used why?

Yes, as Dr. Gerhard Martens mentioned before. In addition 4-wire sensing, or 4-point probes method is an electrical impedance measuring technique that uses separate pairs of current-carrying and voltage-sensing electrodes to make more accurate measurements and to study I-V characteristics. Four-terminal sensing is used also in some ohmmeters and impedance analyzers, and in wiring for strain gauges and resistance thermometers. Four-point probes are also used to measure sheet resistance of thin films.

in a 4 probe measurement (4 terminal measurement) you eliminate the contact and lead resistance contribution onto the measurement result. Therefore this technique is preferably applied to low resistive measurements. See for example the link. But for medium resistive measurements you may use both techniques.
