I used QIAGEN RNeasy Mini plus Kit for RNA isolation. The final step require me to elute RNA into 1.5 ml centrifuge tube provided by this kit.
I am wondering:
1. Can I store the centrifuge tube under -80 °C for long time storage? (in the protocol, it is said -70 °C though)
2. what is the difference between cryo vial and centrifuge tube?
3. when I isolate tissues from rats for my project, can I simply transfer the tissue into centrifuge tube instead of centrifuge tube ?(disruption is processed in a 2 ml centrifuge tube using TissueLyser)
1 Yes you can store
2 Cryo vials can store up to -80 (use of liquid N2 may not affect the this type of vial), centrifuge tubes are susceptible for RT, they might broken for long storage under -80
3 yes you can store any tube, but the tube is to be RNase free or sterilized with DEPC water with RNAase inhibitor

I've also used the kit.
1. I think the intention of that protocol is to store our RNA samples at least -70°C for long period storage, since total RNA is known to remain stable at -80°C.
2. The cryo-vials is manufactured for stability in extremely cold storage conditions while ordinary centrifuge tubes might not endure it. If you questioning the collection tubes provided by the kit, I believe that they are safe for the storage.

Yes, you can store your RNA sample in -80 , i already use this kit and also preserve my samples on -80.
Cryo vials can be used to preserve sperm cells or other type of cells under -80 (at -196 Liquid nitrogen), u can also preserve samples on -80 at cryo vials as it is more suitable due to decrease the incidence of sample evaporation because of the tightly closed screw
