Usually a web server is deployed to manage a web site and is very different from cloud storage. While you can point a web server to a directory, and then upload or download files via the http protocol, the functionality is quite limited. The web server is not designed to backup the data store or provide a layer of security.
In short, a web server is best for hosting web sites and cloud storage is best to handle your data storage needs

Providers and hosts have different tools to move data and applications to different virtual servers, or use multiple servers for redundancy, backup, and availability, and can easily change the amount of resources allocated to one client (CPU, RAM, disk storage, and so on). I guess we can compare web hosting to "berries." And cloud computing would be "super fruits" (an interesting and more recent marketing term) that includes berries, papaya, figs, kiwi, pomegranate, and other very healthy fruits. I think, web hosting is a part of cloud computing (Platform as a Service) so developers can focus on the application that they created. Developers do not need to think about operational "place" for the application that they created.
Hi, I think web hosting can be done in traditional manner i.e. setting up your web server(s) in hosting provider's DC or can be done via cloud computing manner. If it is done via cloud computing, it can leverage on cloud computing features which include: virtualization, elasticity, bursting, pay per use etc. If comparing web hosting via cloud computing vs cloud computing itself, the latter (cloud computing) is superset of the former in which cloud computing include the 5 key features as stated in NIST, various cloud service models i.e. IaaS, PaaS, SaaS or XaaS as well as various deployment models like private, public, hybrid, community etc clouds.

from a very abstract point of view, both concepts might appear similar. Still if you have a closer look, you'll find that they have actually not much in common.
Web hosting is about providing web space, which is data storage that is later-on available in the web.
Cloud Computing is a completely different thing. Cloud Computing is about a flexible provisioning of computational resources. Some of those resources might be available via the web later-on, but not necessarily. Furthermore, the flexibility aspect is one of the key stones for Cloud Computing, which is usually not found in web hosting platforms.
