For example - A sample of ore treated at 800 deg c and sample sample at 1600 deg c for 3 hours residence time. In both the experiment, changes /transformation in mineralogical phases will be there. How we can define sintering and calcination process
Calcination and sintering are two different processes of firing. In the firing process of calcination, volatile components are removed while the sintering process is used for the densification of the materials.

Calcination and Sintering are both thermal processes used for raising the materials to high temperatures. The difference between them is Calcination is heating of material in limited supply of air to remove or drive away moisture and impurities (volatile) and bring about a phase change where as Sintering is thermal process where Densification of material takes place.
For example, when Alumina tri-hydrate is Calcined, the water molecules and whatever impurities present (soda) are removed and Alumina is obtained. The density of this calcined alumina is around 2.6 gm/cc. When the same alumina is sintered, its density increases to >3.5 gm/cc (corundum density is 3.96gm/cc).
Calcination and sintering are two different pyrometallurgical processes.
The key difference between calcination and sintering is that calcination is the heating of metal ore to remove impurities, whereas sintering is the heating of metal ore to weld together small particles of a metal.
Greeting , Calcining is one of the thermal treatment process usually done in the absence of air or oxygen and apply to solid material using temperature 600--1100 C while Sintering is the thermal process of compacting and forming started with low temperature 300 C and does not reach to melting point so this process play important role in powder metallurgy process mainly in manufacturing the carbide and ceramic cutting tools .
I completely agree with answer given by Mr. Ashish Bhatt . Cacination term is used to remove the impurities while the use of Sintering is to increase the grain size for getting a particular structure .
