Adaptive fuzzy control (AFC) techniques are generally used for systems with uncertainties or systems vague information. Recently, the model free control (MFC) (by M. fliess et. Al) assumes that no model is available or only a restricted model is available. So, how does AFC differs from MFC since they deal with the same problem?

Basically, I am more interested to know more about the Model Free control(MFC) introduced by M. fliess et. al ( http://arxiv.org/pdf/1305.7085.pdf ) over adaptive fuzzy control(AFC).
What is the difference between these two types of control.?
One obvious difference is that AFC is able to use the vague information or linguistic information whereas MFC is not.

Adaptive fuzzy controllers are usually rule.logic based and model free controllers are based on relations (simple feedback and constants).
however in the current context, both are same in terms of model free controllers.
As a rule, and I don't think this has changed too much over the years, fuzzy controllers are implementing a control law that you already "kind of know". IN this case, there is an implicit model in the control law that you know. ("If the cliff is on the left, go straight or turn right.": Implicit model: flying off the cliff is undesirable.)
