Ajit is still right about the report; while a literature review'---which I think is what you mean---is a review of the existing literatiure (research) on a particular topic, usually undertaken by a researcher before embarking on his/her own study on the topic.
A literature review can also be undertaken as a stand-alone study---and in various depths, depending on purpose.
