What is the contribution of boundary nodes in geometric multigrid?

Assume we have an inhomogeneous elliptic PDE(let's say 1D poisson) should we take account the boundary nodes in restriction/interpolation?My thought is, since the values at boundaries are known the error there and also the residuum are zero and thus they do not play any role in restriction/interpolation.Is that correct?If it is not what can we do?
