I would say that re-project the MODIS images to geographic projection is better, only if you do not conduct any measurements. If you should measure, I recommend to project both to UTM projection system.

I found a solution in Geomatica for your mentioned reprojection. I can use the focus window in the PCI-Geomatica to re-project all my images to the projection I am looking for.

Then I re-projected my images to the common geographic coordinate system.

Hope it will help the others who may have the same problem as well.
