Can anyone offer me an typical picture of that？This term can be usually encountered in epithermal literature, but I haven't seen any useful picture about cockade texture so far. The similar collocation includes cockade breccia structure. As a Chinese, it's really challenging for me to imagine the appearance of 'cockade'. Thanks in advance.

I know and have photographs of cockade textures from skarn, epithermal, and vein-type deposits (Pb-Zn-F). The process is very complicate and can only successfully be deciphered by investigating among other parameters the viscosity, redox conditions etc. It is wise to carry out the textural investigations not placing emphasis on the cockade textures alone but look at them in context with other textures they are genetically connected with. I add two papers which may shed some light on the approach which I prefer to take and also recommend in this case.

Hello!
By definition, cockade texture is a combination of breccia and crustiform textures. It characterizes with precipitation of hydrothermal minerals in the form of crustification over angular or rounded fragments of rock or ore and forms in open space when cracks are filled in part with breccia.

I have seen this texture in LS Epitermal system in a mine named Arcata, located in the mining district of Orcopampa at Southern Peru. I will show a image, where you will be able to recognize it. In this picture, the cockade texture is the right bottom.

Dong G., Morrison G., and Jaireth S., 1995. Quartz textures in epithermal veins, Queensland - classification, origin and implication. Economic Geology 90, 1841- 1856.
This paper describes and classifies many of the common textures found in open space veins and is a classic reference in this area. The cockade texture has been observed in many epithermal systems and in a number of other vein systems.

Check out this paper (to me, a rather fascinating one). It deals with the texture itself as much as it does with the mechanism of formation.
The most recent cockade paper, and one that describes not only the formation of the textures, but their formation in the context of structural evolution of vein systems, is Cox and Munroe, 2016, although not on researchgate: http://www.ajsonline.org/content/316/3/241.abstract . The process described, essentially by frgament suspension in high fluid flow conduits, is more consistent with the textures seen in epithermal deposits than the explanations provided in the Frenzel and Woodcock paper. The Cox and Munroe paper is an important contribution to the understanding of how dilatacy occurs in high fluid flux faults that host epithermal systems.
