I am running water splitting experiments using a metal hydroxide/carbon cloth active electrode. When I run the LSV tests, the current density undergoes a bump at low potential before increasing steadily at higher potentials. From what I've read, the bump can be the result of the metal species undergoing oxidation. How do I confirm this? I also do not understand if this is beneficial to my results or not.

Any insights would be appreciated. Thank you!
