I'm doing a study on the shelf life and suberizationprocess of winter squash. I couldn't find a study that specifically researched the factors that influence the shelf life of winter squash.
Ralph Knobbout Summarizing different research data and empirical experience, I would say that storability of winter squash dependents on the initial quality at harvest. Other factors you can optimize during the storage and they sometime depend on cultivar / species of squash. See some sources:
