Part of the answers have been given in the suggestion attached to the question, as asking questions, finding the answers, formulating problems and attempting the solutions.
Finding what is already known or unknown can be obtained from previous literature.
In addition, present the findings at conferences/gatherings of professionals and obtain good quality critique of the findings, including methods of study. Then target publication in widely read journals. Do not fear rejection. Just persevere. Take comments in good faith.The advantage is seen in the end.
