I assume that the material that must be defrosted it is in small volumes. I suggest that you follow a descending sequence of temperatures, depending on the available freezers: -50/35; -20/10; -4; +4; room. To speed up the steps you can prepare a series of small containers of ethyl alcohol kept for different times to -80° C (freezing point -117). Using short sequential dive, the temperature of your samples can be increased gradually and without thermal shock.
