Hi,

Sorry I don't have much experience in image processing. In my research, I need to combine 2 grayscale images(like attached images) into one!

I came across the image fusion process. In the definition of image fusion all talk about combining multiple relevant images (usually) into a single one! and for image fusion, I found that 2 category of spatial and frequency domain existed with techniques like PCA based fusion, discrete wavelet transform(DWT) based fusion, etc...

First I want to know:

  • Can I use image fusion techniques for irrelevant image(with same resolution) too or not?

And my second question is:

  • If yes I can use image fusion, which one would be better?
  • if no, what is the alternative techniques for combining 2 images into one?

I would be grateful if anyone share their experiences and knowledge.
