Chloroform:methanol combinations (7:3; 8:2; 9:1 and other variants) would be useful for methanolic extract in most of the cases. 

Toluene : Chloroform : acetone (7:5:8 v/v) would be useful for methanol extraction, due to co-solubility of moderately polar, polar component are drag out in similar-polarity ( methanol) component. In most of cases some secondary plant metabolite (flavonoid, polyphenol,etc  ) are extracted  out by methanol. If you use that solvent along with chamber saturation, relative humidity, etc consideration you may good resolution RF in 0.3 -0.8 .

Salem, If the sationary phase is silica gel and the products in the extract are very polar mixtures of CH2Cl2  and MeOH do not give good separation. Try ternary or quaternary systems of eluents such as : CHCl3-MeOH-Water 5/4/1 v/v/v or CHCl3-MeOH-Water-Acetic Acid 5/4/0.5/0.5 v/v/v/v.
