I think SPSS application and Microsoft Excel not enough to undergraduate study for biology students, do you think that Python language could be one of the best programming languages for them? If not Python then what is better for them?
According to my personal experience, Python is much easier as a starting point. Our mindset as biologists is different from that of programmers. Although R has more applications and potential, starting with it could be somehow difficult for students with no programming background.
Python is good if you have a background in programming or even if you are a starter. R would be perfect if you have a background in statistics. Regarding which one is easier, python definitely.
Python for sure. It is a more general programming language than R, for example. You can use it for stats, math, machine learning, to build web apps, to control lab experiments with an arduino and much more.
It is specific enough for biology, and general enough to make it a valuable long-term investment.
