I think VS code is the best IDE. Install Anaconda Python in your system, python extension in VS code and the recommended software like pylint and git bash (for windows). Hope it will help you.

I believe choosing an editor is definitely deepens on your project and the required features ,beside the programmer coding character. Therefore there is no best unless you specify what you except!

I'm using jupyter and spider for different usages and also some times Linux default editors like gedit!

Please explain what do u mean by "the best" !!!

The "best" IDE mostly depends upon your preferences. Everybody has their own preferences, and will favor one IDE over another based upon how well the environment adheres to the mindset of the developer. Different developers -> different mindsets -> different "best" IDEs.

Also the platform that the developer prefers (some IDEs are "cross platform" and work on PC, Mac, Linux, and maybe others - and some are restricted to one or two platforms) has a bearing on the decision.

Also depends to a certain extent on the developer's budget. There are some really good open source IDEs that are "free" (but if you find one you like, please consider donating a small - or large! - amount to the developers, if they accept donations, as this will ensure further development and support of the IDE.

As many are no-cost, I'd try a few out, and see which is a "best" fit for you. My personal preference is VS Code, which runs on all of the major platforms. But that is b/c it fits well with the way I work - maybe not for you. But it's open source, so no cost.

Try ipython notebooks; those are really cool and I have two recommendation for IDEs,

• jupyterlab
• google colab - have cool resources like GPUs (15GB Tesla T4) and TPUs

Anaconda Python - Jupyter Notebook is a very nice one also. Its advantages is that it come with lot of data science Libraries when installed. it produce results in report format. you can use it to write things like mathematics expressions/equations using markdown/latex code

I have tried a couple of IDEs but PyCharm stands out.

Spyder is a great free IDE that is included with Anaconda. I prefer Jupyter as well.

For me Pycharm is best and for who don't are familiar with installing dependencies library it's a gold mine.

I use Visual studio code, since it's free and behaves well

- Pycharm is the best IDE for professional developers. it has all the feature a programmer would want and more.

- If you're coming from Visual Studio (.NET) or Eclipse(Java) background then Visual Studio + PTVS or Eclipse + PyDev.

- Spyder it comes with anaconda, I've used it for a while. it has everything you'll ever expect from an IDE, + it has built in IPython Consoles. especially if you are a data scientist.

- You can use Jupyter Notebooks although I don't think they suited for development. They are better suited for teaching or testing.

- Build your own IDE (if you have a time): this is my favorite approach. Pick a text editor (Sublime text or Atom or VSCode / Vim* or Emacs if you prefer CLI), then customize them via extensions and scripts to fit your use case.

Well, you can create a python file with any text editor like sublime text or something and then run it from the commandline. You can also work online using Kaggle Kernel or Google Colab if you want to work in complex projects. They are super fast but make sure you turn the GPU or TPU on.

For being productive with general day-to-day scripting and data processing VS Code currently works best for me. It starts up very quickly, which is a must for small tasks.

I guess it depends on the type of work you're doing and your personal preferences. For me, vscode with the Python extension works best. It works great and fast out of the box, but is customizable in many ways. Switching between virtual environments is merely a matter of a single mouse click, what I personally like a lot. Linter and Debugger work great as well. It also provides decent Git-integration. However, the best argument for vscode (as compared to specialised Python IDEs), in my opinion, is that you can use it for any language. I personally use it regularly for Python, C++ and Latex. A negative point is that it does not run code in IPython consoles by default like Spyder. (It may be possible to set that up though. I am not sure). It comes however with an interactive mode, much like jupyter-notebooks.

Generally, I'd recommend just try a few IDEs/Editors and see what works best for you. I'd start with vscode, pycharm or spyder. If you're comfortable with CLI, maybe also Vim would be an option. It has a steep learning curve though.

there is a wide range of options. it depends on your workflows and purposes.

if your work based on the web, then the appropriate code editor would be pycharm pro or vs code.

if your work on data science, then spyder would be the best option. now spyder integrates kite machine learning process which is very useful in the case of autocompletes and documentation. additionally, vs code and spyder are free and pycharm pro is a commercial code editor. If you like very lightweight , you can choose ,if you choose heavyweight and enriched feature, you use pycharm community edition /pro. I used pycharm pro in the most of work.
