High entropy alloys have a complex concentrated composition and the elements exist in the structure with a high concentration.so what is the best method for measure the weight percents of major and minor elements in a high entropy alloys produced by casting ?
Do you know your starting composition?
If you want to confirm that the composition of the cast is the same as the initial raw materials you have used, you can use EDS to get a good idea (or perhaps WDS if accuracy is critical). Alternatively, XRF analysis will also give you a good result. If it is trace elements you are after, than ICP-AES would be ideal.
Agree with Yevgeni and would recommend starting with XRF. Results are quick and accurate and most systems provide a nice breakdown of elements. You could compare your baseline material condition with resultant material for comparison.
I confirm that a good method to analyze chemical composition for metal alloy, without prevalence of one of the metals, is XRF. You can start with a semi-quantitative analysis, to know the % weight of elements with a preview error of 2-3% respect to its quantity. With the aim to obtain a more accuracy in the XRF analysis you can analyze different alloys by wet-method and use the information to prepare the specific response curve for the XRF instrument and use it for the quantitative analysis (error almost 10 time lower)
It depends on the surface area of the phase, accuracy and the elements type.

The comments given are correct. I just wanted to indicate that both XRF and WDX (WDS) require good standards. This means, in the case of XRF, one must have several standart samples (pre-analyzed and approved) all having compositions in the range of your actual sample (the one to be analysed), in the case of WDS (WDX) at least one sample that has a composition around that of your actual sample. Otherwise both methods are open to errors.
If, on the other hand, the aim is to measure the composition with semi-quantitative accuracy and without questioning the trace elements or the minor elements (much less than 1%) than the best method is EDS/SEM. In this case I recommend that you keep the area to be analyzed as large as possible (low magnification) to have a more representative result.
