I do not think that there is a single "best" technique. Suitable land preparation techniques need to be designed based on the local agroecological conditions (especially soil-climate interactions). One way to do this consists in assessing the diversity of techniques already used by wheat growers in the area (they are the result of their, sometimes very long, empirical experience) to identify the superior ones under different conditions.
