As for now there is no generally accepted gold standard for quantifying the degree of injury in homicide victims. In my opinion, the SAIS is the best candidate to serve as a gold standard. It is however time consuming, and we are trying to find a simpler substitute. We have a couple of ongoing studies that should be out within in a year or so. If you have any ideas on injury quantification, please let me know!
