I recommend a study of skulls where you can compare various methods. If the skulls are less than 70 years old (with evidence of root translucency), and are individuals who had more than 20 years after his death, it is viable method Lamendin and its variants as Prince & Ubelaker, Gonzalez Colmenares and Schmitt.

 Any possibilities of doing the study with living patients undergoing CBCT imaging?

You have to evaluate the cost, time, effectivity as any study in living subjects involves more time, money and responsibilities. It would be interesting also define what parameter or parameters that correlate with CBCT for your objectives.

My aim to select the best out of several anatomical parameters of skull which can be correlated with age. Enough CBCT studies are routinely carried out in the dental unit where I am planing to do the study. 

Have a look at CT scan archives of skulls of various ages from a Radiological department of a major teaching hospital.
