It would depend on the viscosity of alginate solution and the size of microparticles. If your alginate solution is thin enough, you can use G27 and can get small microparticles.

thanks. im using a high viscous alginate, and i use 20G to get manageable particles. i had a hard time in handling smaller particles.

20G is very small. You can use larger sizes.
