I currently work as a wildlife biologist in the Peruvian Amazon, and I have recently begun to explore the possibility of capturing a jaguar and fitting it with a VHF/GPS collar in order to study its range size and movement patterns. Does anyone have experience with this, and do you know which cages, VHF/GPS collars, and radio antennas would be best suited for this purpose? Thank you.

Dear: I could recommend you to use any type of necklace that uses a GPS system with LORA technology, because it gives a radius of 100Km and the consumption of its batteries is e about 5 years running constantly, with this they could have a central base receiver that connect now through a GSM / GPSR telephone system, and you can send the data to the study center. This is my suggestion from my technical side, I do not know about the work in the case of biologists, but I do know that it is difficult to have internet networks in the jungle.
