Post-transplantation osteoporosis may originate  from a pre-existing renal osteodystrophy, but it may be aggravated by factors emerging after renal transplantation as IS treatment- especially glucocorticoid.  Patients usually have a significantly elevated fracture risk, which largely contributes to their increased morbidity.

What would be the best therapeutic approach for treating bone loss after KTX? Vitamin D, biphosphonates, a combination of them, other therapies?
