I am a new researcher. So, it is very hard for me to understand how the research procedure is generating. And how to choose the best technique. In these circumstances, I can't understand which segmentation algorithm I should use for the MRI image.
1- read the classical MRI segmentation methods (classical methods means the first and the most used methods)
2- read the new papers of MRI segmentation to know what the researchers in the same field are doing now
This combination can make you be inspired by some work by knowing the most commun problem of the majority of this methods .. so you can propos a new algorithms that resolve or at least decreases this limitation
The methods studied can be also used as a comparison with your method ..
The first essential step of research is 'exploring'. If you're new to this segmentation field, first read some review papers about image segmentation. Then you can search for a specific algorithm to segment MRI image. To create a new algorithm, you should aware of what are the limitations applicable in latest techniques and try to overcome those limitations. It will come only by experience....
