Hello, You can use TGA by employing air atmosphere, depending on the composition, if you have only silica, the final residue will be SiO2, but if you have others inorganic materials, the final residue will have other oxides, except SOx, NOx or ClOx.
Yes you are right that the silica is one the compound of thin coating deposited on glass substrate. The difficulty is because it is very thin, thus it is hard to collect for TGA (or other thermal analysis). Then, what is the approach from our deposition method in order to maximize its content which is sufficient for such thermal analysis?
