Politics can never brings peace in the society as it works on "Divide and rule". can we have any other alternative or counterpart for politics so that people can live together with harmony and peace?
Dear @Anil, it is liberal democracy. Politics is unavoidable for any developed society.
"Liberal democracy is a political ideology and a form of government in which representative democracy operates under the principles of liberalism. It is characterised by fair, free, and competitive elections between multiple distinct political parties, a separation of powers into different branches of government, the rule of law in everyday life as part of an open society, and the equal protection of human rights, civil rights, civil liberties, and political freedoms for all people. To define the system in practice, liberal democracies often draw upon a constitution, either formally written or uncodified, to delineate the powers of government and enshrine the social contract. After a period of sustained expansion throughout the 20th century, liberal democracy became the predominant political system in the world..."
"Divide and rule". Differently seen a situation where someone has power over you. If the supreme wisdom (where is it now?), Then there is a situation of prosperity and democracy. If the power-hungry person at any cost seeks power, the triumph of primitivism.
Whatever alternate you will go for, shall become part of the politics. Every person who acquires power think of to keep it with him any how and for the same he divide others to rule over them. We should learn to live with this system and accommodate ourselves in this system, however you may be neutral from this phenomenon, but if you take active part in it, you will become politician and will start the same politics, it is reality dear.
I suggest looking at Bouricius & Schecter (2013) "An Idealized Design for the Legislative Branch of Government" as a model for conceptual ideas. I like their approuch because it unifies instead of divides power.
I am worrying more about the people below poverty line. They are being continuously exploited by this system. "Peace and harmony" is one aspect that i have considered. Others are human values, poverty, education and development etc, which are affected by this system and play a crucial role in the society.
Let me put a quote by a laymen about this system " Rich is becoming richer and poor is becoming poorer". Same changes we can observe around us. Still there are people in the society who are being deprived from daily needs and at other end we are talking about to visit mars etc. isn't this system creating a more separation b/w the two pillars(out of three) of society (i.e. people below poverty line and Rich one)?
I think the Chinese philosophy of different times and perspectives has a lot of thoughts on harmony. Its premises/implications/consequences and its - for example we could call it: idealistic and realistic - different meanings.
One example of 'less politics and more stability' would be constitutionalism, but this is a theoretical model based on (to me diverging) principles of enlightened-aristocratic club rule and a very strong (self-controlling) constitutional political culture.
In general I would roughly put out this hypothesis: Where there is movement there is no harmony, where there is harmony there is no movement.
With peace we would have to (or could) distinguish for example between
- concepts/notions of rather "structural violence" (and with this a different understanding of peace) [compare e.g. Johan Galtung] and
- rather formal or "negative peace".
Still harmony and freedom are two theoretical concepts which cannot be based on 'realistic' (in the political-theory meaning of 'realism') grounds/basic assumptions. But it depends on the political-philosophical and -theoretical perspective you are currently in/thinking from. Depending on that, concepts like harmony can be guiding principles or anti-/contrast principles/illusions.
Alternative politics must be an alternative to the idea that politics is about exercising power over others. It must replace concentration of power, the idea of winnability and patronage as the main process of politics.
