The most effective way to reduce noise by individuel mororised traffic is
to strengthen public transport by electrical driven rail motion. High standards of track construction and actual level brake systems will provide much less noise.

I am actually looking for solution in terms of architectural design to prevent external noise for houses and apartments in centre of a mega city. Would someone please explain to me the effect of double pane windows in reducing noise and are they properly efficient method can be apply in this case? what are its advantages and disadvantages?
