In one of the paper, the patch antenna was designed at 2.45 GHz resonant frequency without metasurface. The dimensions of the antenna were W=40 mm and L=29 mm. After CSRR loading the resonant frequency was shifted to 2.35 GHz. The new dimensions of reduced sized antenna were W=18.6 mm and L=14 mm. That means more than 50% size reduction, they achieved. But as per Patch antenna design equations of W and L at 2.35 GHz the dimensions are W=38.36 mm and L=30.31 mm since frequency scaling ratio is 0.959. I couln't follow the approach of author as to how they are getting more than 50% size reduction. What is the exact method of size reduction?
