Does anyone know how the RG score is calculated? What does this score mean? What is the importance of this score? I think it is not a very important parameter for the academic career, would not be more useful to use the index h?
RG Score is a Joke! Yes, RG score has a little or no importance in our academic life or in Job. h-index should be more useful. RG score is calculated by using some parameters like contribution to the research work, asking questing, answering to question, following scholars in the RG etc.

I agree with the opinion of Mohammod Hossain that the index h-index is also important in the estimation of the scientist's work value, obtained research results and the significance of scientific achievements of a particular person for the development of science. But it seems to me that the indicators: h-index and the general scoring rate posted on the Research Gate portal are not fully comparable, because they are counted according to another range of substantively estimated values of certain and not the same factors and counting algorithms built on their basis. The key question that arises in this matter is whether the h-index is one of many elements that make up a set of factors in the scoring algorithm of the Research Gate portal or are completely independent indicators. Then, to compare them with each other one should take into account the differences that occur between these indicators, taking into account the detailed formula of multifactorial, quantitatively estimated, scored specific components of the algorithm model, on the basis of which individual indicators function.
The overall scoring rate plays an important role on the Research Gate portal. This function consists in estimating the scientist's work value, obtained research results and the significance of scientific achievements of a particular person for the development of science. The algorithm counting these achievements, i.e. the algorithm on the basis of which this general RG scoring indicator functions, is a question often asked by Research Gate users, because estimating the scientist's work value, obtained research results and the significance of the scientific achievements of a particular person for the development of science is not a simple matter. In addition to the Research Gate portal, other scientific knowledge portals and social media portals also operate on the Internet. However, no other portal analyzes such a complex multifaceted, multifactorial model of scientific activity of its users as it achieves the overall scoring rate on the Research Gate portal.
The general philosophy on the basis of which the multifactor algorithm of this scoring coefficient is built can be briefly summarized as follows: Greater significance of scientific achievements, including results of research carried out, published research results for science development; high level of significance of new added value for science from conducted scientific research; formulating questions in the Questions and Discussions tab, key to the development of scientific research, and providing specific objective answers based on the experience of scientific research; asking inspiration to conduct research questions and providing substantively and methodologically correct answers, etc. is a higher value of the RG scoring rate, in which the above-mentioned issues are significant and are part of the algorithm for counting this general RG scoring index.
In connection with the above, the researchers with the highest RG scoring rate according to this RG formula have the greatest achievements for the current development of science. The overall scoring rate functioning on the Research Gate portal positively fulfills its function since the number of users of the RG portal and publications published on the RG portal is growing so fast. No other scientific knowledge portal and other social media portal, no other database for the indexing of scientific publications has such a well-designed, multi-faceted scoring indicator based on the formula for counting points obtained for many different factors and areas of scientific activity of a particular user - Research Gate portal. In connection with the above, the general scoring rate posted on the Research Gate portal efficiently fulfills its function in terms of estimating the scientist's work value, obtained research results and the significance of scientific achievements of a particular person for the development of science. Of course, if the h-index is an independent indicator or constitutes an insignificant component of the overall RG scoring indicator, it should also be taken into account in assessing the scientist's work value, obtained research results and the significance of the scientific achievements of a particular person for the development of science. The index h-index performs its function in a broader sense, whereas the overall scoring rate RG plays its role mainly or exclusively on the Research Gate portal.
Enis - Research gate score (RG) is a comparative score and is based on a comparative percentile score derived from the score of research gate members by using some metrics. The break down of RG score is publications, questions, answers and followers. It depends upon reads, full reads, recommendations and citations, putting questions and answering questions on research gate. RG score is a morale booster, an increase in score on an update is a refresher and a decrease in score lowers the morale. To have a good RG score demands active involvement of the researcher on research gate and consistency.
In my opinion RG is a social networking platform for the researcher from where anybody can solve his problem by suggestion or opinion. But RG score is a funny thing.
