For optimization of reaction conditions, most of the time we have several factors to take care of, like pH, temp, initial conc., ionic strength... etc.
How we can express in a professional way our results? for example a 3D graph. I noticed the response surface graph which seems to be what I need. But don't know what is it really and how we can use is. Please anyone can help?
Depending on the software you used in designing the experiment. The 3D surface plot is easy to understand if you use Statistica or Design expert to design your experiment. If you used one of the software earlier mentioned, all you need to take note of is the mesh colour of the surface graph. for instance when you look at the legend of the 3D graph, you may notice that colour red is the highest colour while colour blue is the lowest colour and that's if you are using design expert specifically. Now for you to explained the 3D plot, you look at the change in the colour as your independent variables (eg temperature) increases. if for example the colour was blue when the temperature was at minimum value (40 C) but changes to colour red when the temperature is at maximum (eg 80 C), then you can say the increase in the temperature led to the increase in your response (eg yield). Note the colour is mostly applicable when you used Design expert software.
Another way to discussed the 3D plot is through the coefficient of estimate or regression coefficient. A negative value means increase in that term or factor will lead to reduction in the response and vice verse.

Thank you for your answer, my real problem is.... I haven't thought about 3D graph or response surface before doing my researches, and I really don't have information on how to choose the data to do the plot of 3D response.
I recommend that you download the MINITAB software and its user guide. I believe this will allow you to make the response surface graph easily.
