I'm about to submit my manuscript in Journal of Environmental Sciences (Elsevier), but the submission requires "author agreement". Is it the same with "copyright transfer agreement" which has fixed template, or we just make it by our self?
The Author hereby grants the Journal XXX full and exclusive rights to the manuscript, all revisions, and the full copyright. The Journal XXX rights include but are not limited to the following: (1) to reproduce, publish, sell, and distribute copies of the manuscript, selections of the manuscript, and translations and other derivative works based upon the manuscript, in print, audio-visual, electronic, or by any and all media now or hereafter known or devised; (2) to license reprints of the manuscript to third persons for educational photocopying; (3) to license others to create abstracts of the manuscript and to index the manuscript; (4) to license secondary publishers to reproduce the manuscript in print, microform, or any computer-readable form, including electronic on-line databases; and (5) to license the manuscript for document delivery. These exclusive rights run the full term of the copyright, and all renewals and extensions thereof. I hereby accept the terms of the above Author Agreement and I sign on behalf of the authors.
The journal will send you the appropriate documents, and elsevier has the famous copyright transfer, or offers open access (thus you pay for the printing costs but you keep all your rights).
Hi, The author agreement form transfers copyright and also allows you to decide if you want open access and the associated fees (if the journal has that). The publisher will send this to you usually after proofs are made. Link is below. Cheers, Konstantine
Lavinia, have you solve the 'author agreement' issue? If you haven't you can find the agreement form in the journal's Chinese website http://www.jesc.ac.cn/jesc_en/ch/common_item.aspx?parent_id=20150209051915001&menu_id=20150209052711001&is_three_menu=0 . Or you can just download this http://www.jesc.ac.cn/uploadfile/file/Journal%20Publishing%20Agreement.pdf
I find this highly frustrating. Why am I supposed to upload a file during initial submission that is required after acceptance? And on top of that, the form is no where to be found and not even mentioned in the guide for authors (Journal: Eating Behaviors).
I'm about to submit my manuscript in The Brazilian Journal of infectious deseases (Elsevier), but the submission requires "author agreement". where can i find the text?
The Author hereby grants the Journal XXX full and exclusive rights to the manuscript, all revisions, and the full copyright. From the journal JMRT: "At the “Author Agreement”, authors are required to do a simple declaration saying that the paper submitted has not been published previously and that it is not under consideration for publication elsewhere. Authors should also declare if there are any actual or potential conflicts of interest"
Also cannot find the template for the author agreement in the homepage of some journals. May write one personally with the signatures of all the authors.
I have a question about the author`s agreement form, since there is space for only one author wich one will sign the format, or there is other format( Or I just can added) where all the author must sign the format? .
It depends upon the journal instructions. In some journals all the authors must sign in the agreement form. However, in some of the journals they asked only corresponding authors sign.
Elsevier Phytomedicine is asking for the same 'author agreement' form during the submission process, without providing a link to download it. They also did not state how it can be gotten, in their 'guide for authors'. I am considering sending an email to the editorial office.
Update: I contacted the online service of the publisher(Elsevier) and they told me that each author must sign individually (one format each one), they sent me the link where to download it (specifically for the magazine of my interest), i visit the page https://service.elsevier.com/app/home/supporthub/publishing/ and on the bottom is the chat
I searched over the Elsevier websites and I found a template which is provided by them. See the following link for a generic template of the author agreement. The file is also attached.
I certify that all authors have seen and approved the final version of the manuscript being submitted. All authors were fully involved in this work and preparation of the manuscript. This study has not been published before, nor is any part of it under consideration for publication at another journal.
