As we know, such patients can't get up, so their anthropometric measurements can't be measured traditionally. Somewhere I read that the length of the radius bone can be proxy for height, but I am not sure.
That is true. A knee caliper and equation is used to estimate height. I have found it to be fairly reliable but remember that osteoporosis, kyphosis, lordosis or other issues can affect height measurement. For example, when a medication called Baclofen peaks, a person's height may be longer than when it has cleared the system.
I am sorry, but i have a question regarding the above pictured knee caliper. Where can I get such a device? I tried to search online but had little to no luck. would you be so kind and tell me the brand and where to get it?
I bought mine years ago and don't remember where I purchase it but www.quickmedical.com might have one. They sell a lot of different types of calipers.
