Both the social geography and cultural geography have lead to social phenomenon of ethical group, human being on the space as per their surrounding atmosphere permit and their differentiation in the related space. But what are different between these school of thought
There is a very subtle difference between social and cultural geography. A society has tangible and intangible aspects. Religion, language, music, dance forms, social organisation and institutions are examples of intangible aspects, while buildings, settlement patterns and types, paintings, musical instruments utensils and many more are examples of tangible aspect of a social group/community or society. If one study all or any one theme of the two aspects as how they vary over space constitutes social geography. The same study of a societal theme whether belonging to tangible or intangible aspect from the historical perspective tracing origin, evolution and diffusion through time makes up cultural geography. Many perspective may be employed in cultural geography to name two, cultural landscape or cultural diffusion.
Social and cultural geography along with political and economic geography make up human geography that study influences of human activities and material features on spatial organization and try to apply obtained informations in spatial planning and management.
In this framework social geography study activities and material features concerning any human society, important for their functioning. Ruppert et al. (1977) in their book "Sozialgeographie" categorize those activities and material features into six primary functions: living in community, dwelling, working, supplying, education and leisure time activities (+ transport).
On the other side, cultural geography should study activities and material features concerning different cultures. These could be related to religion, language, art, norms, values etc.
Both social and cultural geography would study how those activities and material features influence spatial organization and use of natural and human resources.
Cultural geography is the study of space and culture, ie languages, traditions. Social geography is the study of social matters in general; that can be related to inequalities, for example -They're both quite similar, cultural geography is probably a subfield of social geography, which touches everything human.
