It is clear idea to present light waves and gravity waves to be waves of Aether media. What is difference? We can find the right answer to this question. Think about generation of gravity waves by means of electromagnetic processes.
It is no longer usual to consider that there is an Aether. Experiments with light that were designed to detect it have failed, with the result that special relativity was put forward instead. Light waves seem to be variations of electric and magnetic field without any substance to carry them. They carry energy and momentum and so are subject to the rules of general relativity (they slightly distorts space-time). They only interact with neutral particles through their energy and momentum, whereas they can move charged particles by the electric and magnetic fields.
Gravity waves are seen as distortions in space-time, as if down was first one direction and then the other, as the wave goes past. I think they only interact with other matter (mass-energy) by gravity (distortion of space-time) and do not affect charged particles differently to anything else.
Malcolm White wrote nonsense :) "Light waves seem to be variations of electric and magnetic field without any substance to carry them". Smile... The idea of some field is just an description of real situation. Waves (EM or G) can be created only in some media, i.e. in some matter. There are waves of density in gas and we named it "the sound waves". The Aether is special type of matter and we can work with density of Aether. You can not. It is your problem. So, you can not think how to creater Gravity waves and Gravity beams if you can not accept the idea of the Aether.
Alexander Frolov Thank you for your considered opinion. The fact that your belief in the ether will cause all your effort to be wasted will not affect me, I am sad that it will affect you.
