To my knowledge, there has not been much success growing p-type ZnO with hydrothermal methods.  ZnO tends to be intrinsically n-type and to have any chance at being p-type, the crystals must have near perfect crystalline quality with little or no defects.  Hydrothermal methods don't tend to lend themselves well to this demand.
