What is a learning mindset? Is/was this approach used in your college/university?
Institutions that help students develop learning mindsets, have inculcate higher motivation to learn than to simply regurgitate what books or notes say.
This is a set of steps to motivate each and every student so that they are open to learning and understand the reasons for learning. It also includes an attitude adjustment, eagerness to learn and willing to ask questions. There is also a responsibility assigned to the student that they are part of the success equation.
عقلية التعلم تجعل العقل قابل للوصول إلى نتائج منطقية واعتقد انه يتم اعتمادها وفقا لطبيعة المنهج فيما لو كان يتطلب ذلك كما في المواد العلمية
The mentality of learning makes the mind accessible to logical results and I believe that it is adopted according to the nature of the curriculum if required as in the scientific materials
The method is preferred to begin in the elementary school stages, to bear fruit in subsequent stages of undergraduate study, it is a method of development for systematic thinking
For academic activities & performance for the student quite problem come before the mind & they may be required to find the solution for such problems so that they may move toward the career .
Mind Set problem remain for every student in their academic & working action & for bringing the career they may get involved in finding the solution of the problems .
This is important as it remains a problem for the career ,development & very often students may take the help of the colleague to have the right type of action . If the students in their working action come out with the repetitive action of mind set they should silently sit for certain time without thinking any other problems & this may also help them to take the recourse religious practice ,power of prayer ,& meditation which make them certainly comfortable in their problem .
Honestly I must admit , they never taught us how to learn or teach since we were busssssy learning the books and labs too ...
So, all I developed was how to learn to teach and how to learn new stuff to keep students interested (haaaaaard to do ) . My students would give me books of courses I did not teach and would tell me , "Mam read this and explain it to us :)" so such were my students and their dependency to how I taught or rather how I learned and delivered ...
It is easy to keep them interested as long as you are interested , that is my main mantra
The learning mentality is an educational method that allows students to understand, motivate, and inspire them to learn. They make the mind intelligible to logical reasoning and reach logical scientific results acceptable to the human mind.
Learning mindset is a belief that people have about learning and intelligence and the dreams of a person are the main compelling force to learning mindset.
Mindsets are students’ beliefs about learning and school. Students with learning mindsets are more motivated to take on challenging work, persist in the face of setbacks, and achieve at higher levels
Learning mindsets affect whether or not students engage with challenges because they affect the way in which students understand the larger meaning of those challenges.
For example, two students receiving the same exact low score on an assignment may have very different responses depending on their respective mindsets. If a student believes intelligence is fixed at birth, she may see it as a judgment on her ability in the subject, withdrawing effort and steering clear of future challenges to avoid failure. In contrast, a student who knows that intelligence is malleable may see the test score as an indication that she simply hasn’t mastered the material yet, redoubling her efforts, asking for help, and trying different strategies.
It is not done in our universities. Leaders can help their employees adopt a learning mentality by communicating with the importance of learning," by rewarding people not only for their performance but for the learning to get there."."
A learning mindset means that you see challenges as opportunities and that you are motivated to learn something new every day. ... Create inventories of what you have learned.
"Learning starts with failure; the first failure is the beginning of education".......~John Hersey, an U.S. author.
Learning mindset is creating an attitude that actually respects the learner. It is to denote a place where a learner receive guidance and encouragement from the responsible teachers around them. It is fostering an environment where they can experiment and try out new ideas without fear or failure. It is to facilitate an atmosphere that builds learner’s self-confidence in such a way that they dare to take risks. Precisely, it is the desired ambience that nurtures a true love of learning.
Ideally the above are the universal expectations for igniting a learning mindset....... which is mostly lacking in our colleges / universities.
