The quality of equipment should be good having low maintenance cost. Like other FMCG products if we can provide visible service centers for prompt and genuine maintenance, people will switch over from non-renewable to renewable energy resources.

 There is need to drive demand for the locally manufactured equipment in India. We need to study the successful models from across the world and work on those models that suit the Indian scenario. For there to be any innovation in making renewable energy affordable at all, we must first and foremost accept it as our means of energy generation in the 21st century. This should be developed up to the grass root with everyone knowing all the rudiments as it pertains to energy and its uses. This should include everyone and with no exception.

A new study demonstrates that an energy system based on completely renewable forms of energy will be economically viable in the future. Research done at Lappeenranta University of Technology (LUT) shows that it will be worthwhile for North-East Asia, and China in particular, to switch to a completely renewable energy system within 5-10 years. According to the Neo-Carbon Energy project, which conducted the research, the price of solar electricity will drop by half by 2025−2030.

The gadgets what we are using should be efficient and micro level operative so that the level of renewable energy and consumption/operative power of  gadgets matches.

The research should be focus on low level operative units and efficient systems development of energy generations

There are some untouched area in terms of renewable energy sources should be explore (e. g. sea waves/tidal energy, Pressure energy of legs while walking)on 

What I find it interesting that after the invent if solid state devices (silicon based) in 60's there is no major breakthrough for almost 50 years. It high time and there is a huge deficit of breakthrough technology. ""GRAPHENE" is a material which is showing a potential to be a next breakthrough material but still it has long way to go.

We need to look at the following points to get the solution

1) We are saying that solar devices are dependent on sun and we get power by converting it. But as a common man, he thinks that sun light and wind keep on changing so how he can be ensured even if they are not there (imagine the situation compared to 10 litres of petrol that ensures a common man of certain amount of energy security for some hours if he has an genset).

2) As the beginning we marketed the renewable energy products in a wrong way and highlighting its limitations in a wrong way and not providing convincing solution to those solutions for long.

3) From the starting we should have marketed it has a service we are doing to keep the environment clean but a bit higher price.

4) We need to make the reliability of renewable energy devices at par with conventional ones. Because this is the common ground where renewable and conventional are compared. Renewable has had time to defend it.

Not enough incentives have been given to common man to install micro-wind turbines. Coastal areas with 7m/s have nearby areas suffering from power outages. Its such a waste.

And its particularly interesting how Asia has been highlighted for the renewable energy in this study that you have shared, the potential in this part of the world has not been exploited. Kudos to India though, for their wind energy projects. 

They say here in Brazil we have a lot of (look a lot of) suns to each person. So we do have plenty of sun energy collectors! Hummmmm no... far away from this. Our govern focused all efforts in gasoline & petroil. As u see we are revolutionary..... so my point of view: no revolution no new equipments no natural or weather energy is valuable if we have a highly incompetent govern... it's Brazil story updated...

MAYBE U SHOULD TRYOUT MECHANICAL POWER GENERATING ROLLERS ON ROAD NETWORKS WHICH CAN MINIMISE THE USE OF NATURAL RESOURCES.

Being realistic when promote to this technology. Many  average people think that having two up to three solar panels in the roof can solve hi need to the power!

I addition to what others mentioned in their answers,  once again I would say creating a smart mixed energy solution is the key point for improving the compatibility of renewable energy resources
