According to industry sources, the inputs required to produce one ton of DAP fertilizer are approximately 1.5 to 2 tons of phosphate rock, 0.4 tons of sulfur (S) to dissolve the rock, and 0.2 tons of ammonia. As such, some amount of sulfur is expected to be present in DAP fertilizer albeit not declared in the product content. As a result, some experts argue that there is no need to add sulfur fertilizers as the content in DAP is enough to satisfy crop demands. I would appreciate answers/explanations from fertilizer experts about secondary and micronutrients present in DAP, their availability to plants and their effects on soil conditions such as acidity and alkalinity?
