What is the purpose of "solid phase" UV-visible spectroscopy? What information can be obtained from UV-Vis spectra in solid state of matters (especially nanoparticles)?
What are the advantages and disadvantages of solid phase UV-visible versus other spectroscopic techniques? How to evaluate and interpret its spectra? Is there a meaningful difference between Normal (liquid) UV-vis spectrums and Solid phase ones?

From transmission and / reflection data as a function of wavelength, band gap, absorption coefficient, refractive index, propogation constant in bulk as well as in thin films can be obtained.
