I am quite new to microbiology and not sure how endosymbiont bacteria such as rhizobial species can survive in the crop field during winter.

After the harvest and crops all die, and when the winter comes, do the rhizobial bacteria in the soil become dormant or do they die out?

How do they recolonize the soil if they die?
