I never got a response to all the requests I ever sent for a text. So go for Open Library or Library Genesis (libgen.is); you may find it there.

In that case, the author receives a notification informing them that you are interested in reading their work. The may decide to share it with or or not. In most cases people are happy that someone wants to read their work and agree to share their publication (and do so quickly). At least, this is what my experience has been for the past several years I have been a RG user. I remember two situations where someone said they could not share their publication or did not get back to be at all. Other than that I almost always received a response within a day or two. To me, the fact that I can request publications so easily and receive them so quickly is one of the best things of being on RG. I always send a thank-you note to the author to let them know that their help means a lot.
As Tomasz Michta wrote, it's worth a try to request. However, unless the book is self-published, the author might not have permission to share it. Generally, the publisher of a book holds the copyright, and the book is not open access. (Publishers, after all, have to cover their not inconsiderable costs.) I like Tomasz Michta 's suggestion to thank a response--whether it is a positive response or a decline to share with explanation.
