You can use Geographical Weighted Regression (GWR), this tool is available for free in QGIS and in ArcGis under the Modeling Spatial Relashioships -------> Spatial Statistics Tools.

ArcGIS, QGIS, Python and R can make timeseries maps to map spread of the disease across space and time. it would be animated maps. To predict, SPSS or ArcGIS Spatial Analyst, Geostatistical Analyst extentions.

ArcGIS Spatial Analyst and Geo-statistical tools can be used. For time series analysis, Neural network function as well as SPSS and Minitab … software can be used.

Has anyone noticed the unusual pattern of the incidences of Covid19 in rural America? The spatial pattern is very 'checkerboard'. Perhaps this is due to the distribution of rural hospitals, one to a county for example, but I was still surprised to see there was any thing that even looked like a pattern considering the shapes of counties. Mostly in the Midwest and inland west.

You can use geostatistical tools and ArcGIS spatial analyst tools to analyse global transmission and prediction of covid 19.

The other possibility is that they used the centroid of each county (to protect privacy) but still it is really odd. If I had to guess transmission and contact spatial patterns, I would have envisioned a growth pattern along dense urban and transportation corridors, not a grid (checkerboard) effect. Even crime doesn't have that kind of even distribution. Something more like zones extending from denser incidences. Not speckles all over the place. Maybe someone can trace how that pattern would be produced, someday. Peace.

You can use GIS to determine and detect the spatial distribution of corona virus and uses the statistical tools.

GIS and new coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19)

Recently, many applications that rely on web maps have spread to display the results of the Corona virus, and one of the most famous of those applications was produced by Johns Hopkins University(esri dashboard), which is considered one of the most important sources of information about covid- 19 deaths and spatial spread in the United States and the world.

The spatial factor is one of the most important factors that affect the spread of epidemics, including population density, patterns of movement of people, the spatial distribution of disease states, the relationship of disease spread with other demographic factors, and therefore in the case of different spatial data available we can analyze the spread of different epidemics and know the factors affecting their spatial distribution from there, for all of this the spread of the epidemic can be predicted.

GIS is a very useful tool in mapping or predicting the prevalence of diseases however the accuracy of the predictive model will rely greatly on the collection of extensive available spatial and temporal data.

I think suitability analysis is better to address the current and future effects of the pandemic. through re-classifying and ranking of the possible opportunities that helps the virus to affect more peoples. It needs attribute base data about the virus to do this; for instance if the skin color or the blood type have a response to the virus 'how much they contribute for the spreading of the virus' is required to do weighted overlay.

It is better to use arcgis online to trace cases of Covid-19. We can make dashboard from it for personal or educative purpose.
