There are NO such tools that work for "SCHOLARLY ACADEMIC" writing! Academic/ Scholarly writing is not just "grammar/ technical issues" BUT STORY TELLING and CORRECT USAGE of English.
Learn and do it YOURSELF, or take help from NATIVE ENGLISH SPEAKERS, COLLABORATORS who have PUBLISHED A LOT, Scholars/ Professor in DEPARTMENT OF ENGLISH.
Comes with "EXPERIENCE" and "READING AND WRITING" as MUCH AS POSSIBLE.
1. I use TeX templates for manuscripts, for that reason spelling process and grammar is very weak in comparison with MS office package. When you write something try to use MS Word for grammar suggestions.
2. I use this website for synonyms and related information: http://www.thesaurus.com/browse/synonym
3. If you know about any colleague with good writing English, you can ask for suggestions. My actual doctoral supervisor is non native English speaker, but He lived in England, for that reason He has good writing English.
i have tried ref-n-write and grammarly. while the former is mimicking writing styles based on scholarly articles that you feed into the software and it cannot automatically check grammar problems and suggest for improvement. the latter, however, can automatically scan the document and offer suggestions to improve. It highlights words/sentences to bring your attention to problems identified by the software. it is to correct the grammar of your writing without referencing other research articles (sentence by sentence correcting literarily).
· I generally use this website when I need to check my papers for basic grammar and spell checking. They provide an online grammar and spell checking against main grammar rules
· They provide both free and pro versions. But note that free trial does not give you effective editing and proofreading. In my personal experience, its results give several incorrect revisions. Because they do not give you a depth editing and proofreading and it is edited by AI not human. For human editors, you have to place order.
· If you need to check your papers for the basic grammar and spell checking, this app and website might be helpful, but no for advanced corrections. For advanced quality proofreading and editing, you better go with professional services.
Free AI proofreading sites (like https://wordvice.ai) can be helpful in identifying basic errors in grammar, spelling, and punctuation. However, if you want more thorough editing for style and vocabulary, you should probably let a a professional editor review your paper. Check out Wordvice (https://wordvice.com/pricing/) for the best academic editing in the business.
But before you do, learn more about the editing and proofreading process (https://wordvice.com/topic/language-rules/proofreading-and-editing-guide/) so that you understand exactly what you are getting with language editing.
About Zetatext: [I see on the webpage that a 'Yousefi_Farrokh" listed as contact for the service.] If the English proficiency of its search engine is as good as that of the person (or machine) that wrote that webpage, then expect results as flawed as their phrasing: "...helps you find your sentence and write English better such as a Native." Toufik Sebbagh about your query for free sites / software for proofreading: The term you use should be "editing." The final stage of an editing process is proofreading (which can only be done after text has been edited for usage and style). There are plenty of sites and software that can assist with spelling, grammar checking, and rephrasing (such as the QuillBot A.I.: https://quillbot.com). However there is no free lunch when it comes to editing and proofing. If you want text that presentable in a language, then you need to have the text edited by a person who is capable in that language.
For optimum results, combine the expertise of human with software. Popular software such as Grammarly (premium) will do an excellent job at picking up spelling and grammar mistakes than any other checker. But a software should not the most trustworthy tool when it comes to getting full-proof insights about context, organization, and paragraph layout. For an top-notch writing, you also NEED a grammar expert (human), preferably a native English speaker.
In my experience, a free software/website will not be trustworthy at all for proofreading. It will be risky as anyone can steal your work. Grammarly (Premium) does a great job of basic proofreading and grammar checking. You can try that. Thank you. Regards.
Ideal solution is Professional native, however, in the case software, I think Quillbot will give you more options such as standard, formal, creative form of sentences structure along with summarize, extended sentence and grammar correction options. Off course, it is Quillbot premium!
Grammarly free version even does a good job. If you want more, premium version is the best.
Also, you could check the paper's readability with the readability statistics in word, that you need to turn on in the options>proofing. Then, upon completion of the grammar check, you will be provided with the statistics. You want Glesch-Kincaid Grade level below 12, preferably, not a hard and fast rule though; lower is better.
ChatGPT is the best. I recommend to read this manuscript.
