I use spit hopkinson bar to achieve strain rate among 10^2~10^4。If I want to get further information ,such as the strain rate is over 10^4,I will conduct the experiment by light gas gun to accelerate projectiles.

We do have a split Hopkinson bar in our lab, which can be used to test the dynamic mechanical response of the materials up to 10^3 or 10^4/s.
We are also using laser driven shock compression to achieve even higher strain rate depending on the laser pulse. Currently, we are using nanosecond laser.
